Getting a Fresh Start? Maximize the Opportunity!

We all get off track…with our eating and nutrition plans, exercise plans, career plans, you name it! One of the keys to maximizing your opportunities is to make the most of a fresh start. Whatever you’re challenged by, sometimes getting a fresh start is the way to correct your path and make positive progress.

Fresh starts take place in your life every single day. If there’s something you’re doing for the first time, you can view that a fresh start. The term “fresh start” has a warm, exciting sound to it, but sometimes, the reality is that something new isn’t always something you look forward to…especially when it follows what you might percieve as a failure!

How can you make the most of a fresh start – especially when it’s proving to be a little more difficult than you might have imagined?

What you may need to wrap your mind around is the fact that an unfamiliar position or situation serves as an opportunity for you to utilize talents you never knew you had, or talents you haven’t fully implemented. It gives you the chance to challenge yourself and see just what you’re made of. Are you ready to do that?

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your fresh start:

    1. Embrace your fresh start with an open mind. As scary as your fresh start may seem at first – whether it’s a revamped nutrition plan, a new workout, or even starting along the path to qualification for lap band surgery – it’s really important that you embrace it with an open, positive mind. You’re likely to have seen situations in your past that turned out to be only half as bad as you had anticipated – and you wonder “What was I so cranked up about?”. Anticipation with anxiety can make anything seem worse than it is, so make a conscious effort to keep an open, positive mind, and view your fresh start with eager, happy anticipation of the successes to come.

Remind yourself that newness brings with it exciting opportunities to prove your new capabilities and developing strengths. Less is sometimes more, and knowing less about something you’re about to embark on makes it more rewarding when you conquer it!
    2. Begin with the end in mind. Okay, so your fresh start may have you feeling a little nervous and insecure; Have you stopped to consider what you want the outcome to be in the end? By knowing your desired (positive) outcome, you can more effectively plot the path to get you there.Consider how you’d want this fresh start to begin (ideally) and how you’d want the situation to turn out. Assess whether your ideal, desired resolution is actually a realistic outcome – if it is, start making a step by step plan that will take you where you want to go. Get really excited about your fresh start! If it’s not quite realistic, don’t abandon it – modify it! Create a realistic outcome that is achievable, but one that makes you stretch and grow a little, and then make that plan to help manifest what you want the outcome to be!
    3.  Conquer your fears with faith. If you have faith in the guidance of your Creator (or a higher power) and your abilities to reap positive rewards, you can overcome ANY fears. Faith is stronger than any fear, doubt or insecurity you may have, so feel free to exercise it, call on it, and rely on it when you need to.Remember how your faith has gotten you through tough situations in the past – relive those victorious and comforting moments. Believe in yourself – that you have the ability and the skill with which to conquer your fears – and everything else will fall into place. There’s an old saying that goes, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” If you’ve had similar starting points in the past and are here now to talk about them, it means you’ve made it through them! If they were anything like your newest fresh start, you’re very likely to be more than capable of making it through this one.

By following these strategies, you have what it takes to make the most of your fresh start and come out with another positive experience that you can be proud of. Go after this new situation with all the gusto you’ve got because you know you’re equipped with the tools and experience to win!
