Hutton’s personal style developed during her growing-up period in the 1940’s in Charleston, South Carolina, where she lived with her family. She rebelled against the expected code of Southern femininity, and when her family experienced a financial downturn, they moved to Florida, where Lauren was free to “hit the trees” and like “wild things.”
