Today’s post is going to be a Q&A session focusing on Capsule Wardrobes – a topic I get […]
Have you been wishing you could change your appearance? Are you growing tired of your hair, skin, body shape or size, or even just the style of your clothing? If you’ve experienced any of these feelings – and they are common as we move into a new year, or sometimes a new month – you might enjoy a mini-makeover.
How you feel about your body image has a substantial effect on how you feel about yourself as a person. Everyone needs a boost to his or her body image once in awhile. And it just feels good to make some changes to your personal appearance, which will help you to love who and what you see in the mirror every single day.
We’re all about being healthy and making positive change, right? Well, did you know that some of the […]
“Everything you want is surrounded by things that SUCK…as long as you’re willing to get through the stuff that sucks, you can have EVERYTHING that you want.”
The quote above is from a very good friend and amazing speaker – Jonathan Sprinkles. Yes – that’s really his last name! It struck me particularly sharply today, as I’m working on getting through some of the “stuff” that sucks with regard to my own wardrobe. You see, even though I am an accomplished Image Professional, sometimes I still have challenges with letting go of old garments and shoes in my closet.
You know the ones – the sentimental garments that immediately take you back to a happy time…the shoes you wore on that special date that made you feel like you could dance all night, or the ones that got you whistled at when you were with your friends…
The jacket that seemed to make you look a size smaller, or curvier, or taller, or ____________________ (insert adjective here)…but now is a little more tattered and worn than you can really stand, and yet…it’s so hard to let go of…
It’s been an interesting 21 Days…when I took on the challenge to wear a skirt or a dress for 21 days, I did not think it would necessarily affect me the way that it has. I do love wearing skirts and dresses, but had kind of relegated them to “special occasion” territory – ensuring that I was missing out on about a third of my wardrobe. I did not grow up thinking of dresses and skirts as everyday attire…I was a tomboy and far more comfortable in jeans and gymshoes!
High-contrast color choices in your wardrobe create a bit of ‘drama’ and interest – black and white is one classic high-contract combination, and colors that are opposites on the color wheel also cause the eye to follow them. High contrast color combinations are best incorporated when your own coloring is also high contrast. For instance – someone with a relatively light skin tone, dark hair and dark eyes is considered high contrast because of the difference between their hair, skin and eyes.
