It’s time to take the reins – to take charge of your life, your health, your image and your future. If you have felt out-of-control, under-the-influence, afraid or apprehensive about exerting your own personal power, let me be the first to help you get past that roadblock.
It’s time to take charge of your life – because if you’re not happy with the decisions you’ve made in the past, only YOU can change what happens in your future. I have made some decisions that did not turn out the best for me – took some chances, took a leap, and while I did not fall and go boom, I didn’t exactly make a huge splash either. That doesn’t mean I have to STAY in the place where I am right now. I am still in charge of where my life goes from here, and I have made a decision about my future. Will everything work out exactly as I want it to? I don’t know – but I’m gonna put all I have behind it and see where it takes me.
It’s time to take charge of your health – if you are eating badly, not exercising, not taking your medication as you KNOW you should, or allowing others to negatively influence what you put into YOUR body, it’s time to take charge and stop the negative patterns. You are ultimately responsible for supporting your health. If you’re working with a physician, a naturopath, or a holistic practitioner, USE the knowledge they have to help yourself be healthier. That does not necessarily mean losing weight – for some people, getting healthier means GAINING weight! Ask questions of your health practitioner – write them down if you must, and consider emailing or faxing them in a few days BEFORE your appointment, so the answers can be ready for you when you arrive and you won’t forget to ask any of the questions. If, for whatever reason, you do NOT have a good relationship with your practitioner and cannot develop one, start NOW to look for someone who will listen to you, speak to you in terms YOU can understand, and who will partner with you to help you develop optimal health.
If you are not quite happy with the person you see reflected in the mirror, it’s time to do some soul-searching. What exactly IS it that you don’t appreciate? Is it that you don’t look like the women you see in fashion magazines? Here’s yet another news flash – NO ONE looks like the women in most fashion magazines, not even the women themselves, because the photos are retouched to death and the models are made to look unrealistically perfect. Perfect in someone else’s eyes, that is…there are some tested and proven ways to look your best:
- Choose colors that harmonize and enhance YOUR natural coloring and personality, based on your natural skin tone, hair color, eye color; Add in your personality traits – whether you are shy and quiet, outgoing and boisterous, or somewhere in between.
- Dress the body you have RIGHT NOW. No matter what your size or shape, you DESERVE to look your best every day of the week. That does not necessarily mean you have to spend a ton of money, but you DO have to be selective and demanding of your wardrobe! Don’t let anyone or anything convince you to purchase a single solitary garment that doesn’t make you smile when you have it on, doesn’t flatter your body RIGHT NOW, or doesn’t fit your lifestyle. Life is too short to wear clothes you hate – and if you can’t find what you want, start saving, and either do it yourself, or have someone MAKE what you want to wear.
Finally, your future can be totally changed by actions you initiate TODAY. There are stories all over our world about people who changed directions in mid-life or beyond. It’s never too late to do something that makes your heart sing, that makes you smile, that makes you jump out of bed in the morning, eager to get to it. If you’re not quite there yet, make a plan to get there. It doesn’t have to happen overnight – sometimes it will take weeks, months, or years to reach your goal. But as long as you are making positive progress, you will eventually get there. We’ve all seen the stories about people at an advanced age (70’s, 80’s) who finally complete their college degree, graduate from high school, start a business, or hit it big with an invention – they are living proof that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
Whatever circumstance there is in your life that you’re not satisfied with – you can change it. You can build the life you want and deserve, you can improve your physical, mental and emotional health, you can polish your personal presence and build an image you’ll love to see reflected in your mirror each day, and you can design a future that makes you eager to get to work on it every single day of your life.
